Week 16

Thanks to increasing blood flow, it's time for some major cash and prizes. Enjoy quick-growing hair and nails, smooth and firm skin, and a healthy glow. One bit of bad news -- your eyes might be feeling a little dry these days.

Size of baby: an Avocado

Total Weight Gain/Loss: 9 per the Dr. office scale (geez!) and 5 per the scale at home

Maternity Clothes: I bought a pair of maternity jeans when we were in Wichita for our Dr. appt but I don't plan on wearing them anytime soon.  I still use the belly band with all my pants.
Gender: We were disappointed that we didn't get a sonogram at our last Dr. appt.  We have to wait 2 more weeks to find out.
Movement: not feeling it yet.  I'm looking forward to it though!

Sleep: pretty good.  I'm really tired today though.

What I miss: running and bud light chelada

Cravings: anything cool and refreshing - watermelon!  yum!

Symptoms: just some stretching pains.  pretty sure my belly grew an inch overnight!

Best Moment This Week: hearing the heart beats again.  The doctor was able to pick up both of them. Also, getting our truck back!  Three days after we had it, the transmission started slipping.  We ended up having to get a whole new transmission for a truck that had 1,200 miles on it!  We have been without it for 2 whole weeks!  Mitch was not happy.

Milestones: Watch what you say...tiny bones forming in baby's ears mean she can now pick up your voice. A few more minuscule changes: Eyebrows, lashes, and hair are starting to fill in, and taste buds are forming. Dad is going to have to watch his mouth!

What I'm Looking Forward To: We are leaving this evening to go to Lake of the Ozarks with friends for the weekend.  I'm hoping it will be a very relaxing, fun weekend.

Week 15

Sorry I missed posting due to our laptop getting a virus.  I'll pick back up with week 16!

14 weeks

In theory, your uterus' ability to expand (14 times in size, 20 in weight) is awe-inspiring; in practice, it kind of hurts. When the aches and sharp pains hit your belly, think about this happy news: By now, your risk of miscarriage has gone way, way down.

Size of baby: a lemon

Total Weight Gain/Loss: 2 I think

Maternity Clothes: none yet, I'm still using the belly band for all my pants so far

Gender: not sure yet - hoping we find out next week!

Movement: nothing so far

Sleep: very good this week.  The new pillow I got is great!

What I miss: not having drinks with the girls.  We had girls night and I had water :(  I need to find a good mocktail.

Cravings: cucumbers, vinegar, and onion salad.  I've eaten a total of 3 whole cucumbers so far this week.  Atleast it's healthy!

Symptoms: Some back aches and headaches today

Best Moment This Week: eating at the new Mexican restaurant in town!  Will eat there a total of 3 times before this week is over.  It is soooo good :)

Milestones: Your adorable little fetus is busy with thumb sucking, toe wiggling, (not so cute but equally amazing) making urine, and breathing amniotic fluid as the liver, kidneys, and spleen continue to develop. Lanugo (thin, downy hair) is growing all over her body for warmth.
What I'm Looking Forward To: Our next doctors appointment on the 22nd.  We have our appointment in the afternoon so we can do some shopping afterward and go to dinner.

The baby carrier

Here is our latest purchase for the babies.

And here is the one and only picture of the danger ranger on its last trip to the bank.

13 weeks

Welcome to the blissful second trimester, widely recognized as pregnancy's most comfortable and enjoyable. (Yes, it's a relative distinction.)
Size of baby: A Peach

Total Weight Gain/Loss: 2 lbs

Maternity Clothes: not yet – using the belly band with my zip up pants and work pants and living in gym short and t-shirts at the house.

Gender: not sure yet.

Movement: baby is moving around a lot it there but I can’t feel it yet, a few more weeks to go on this one.

Sleep: bought a new pillow today so hopefully will be a little more restful.  I live for the weekends when I can sleep in.

What I miss: having the endurance to get things done.  The sun wears me out, standing too long wears me out.  It takes me forever to clean the house anymore.

Cravings: nothing lately, but we did get a new mexican restaurant in town that I'm excited to try!

Symptoms: none lately, just hungry alot!

Best Moment This Week: We got a new truck this week which was needed in order to travel with two carseats.

MilestonesYour fetus is forming teeth and vocal cords...savor this, their nonfunctional phase. Baby is approaching normal proportions, with his head now only one third the size of his body. And intestines are in the process of moving from the umbilical cord to baby's tummy -- much more convenient.

What I'm Looking Forward To: next week being a much calmer week with work and only two more weeks until our next appointment.  Hopefully we will be able to find out the sexes of the babies.
